April 09 – Picardy Museum

A lovely sunny day today.  We headed out mid-morning for a walk up through town.  Some photos around Amiens.

And the walk took us through a main plaza, Place Gambetta, with restaurants and lots of "balloons".

We walked by the Church of Saint Remi of Amiens.

Our destination for this morning was the Picardy Museum.  It had a very grand façade and a lovely garden in front.  From Paul’s research he said that building was purpose built to be a museum.  Most museums in France are in former palaces and mansions. 

The interior was beautiful.

There is a Society of Antiquarians of Picardy that has an area in the museum.  Visitors weren’t allowed in but they had one of the doors open so that we could see one of the rooms with its many ancient books.

After the visit we headed back down to the Place Gambetta for lunch.  We ended up having lunch at an Italian restaurant. 

We spent the afternoon at the hotel working on photos and travel stuff.
