We are using Gramat as a base to visit some other villages in the area so we headed out this morning for our first village, Beaulieu Sur Dordogne. This is a beauty on the Dordogne River.
Our first stop was the Abbey of Saint Pierre. It was in the heart of the old section of town.
There were many lovely stained-glass windows...
and the sun was coming through them just right. The floors of the Abbey were painted with colors.
We spent some time wandering that area and ended up down by the river. A church near the waterfront.
Unfortunately, the boat rides were booked for the day so we stopped at the Tourist Office and booked tickets for tomorrow.

Then we headed out to another town we had seen road signs, Autoire. This one turned out to be very small but picturesque.
There was a tiny and quaint chateau. It was closed and it didn't look like it was ever open to the public. Would have been fun to tour and it was a manageable size.
We had lunch at the Auberge de la Fontaine (Hostel at the Fountain). Mary had a truly great hamburger.

The terrace by the church had wonderful views of the valley.
We were back at the hotel by the middle of the afternoon. We spent the afternoon working and then cobbled together dinner with fruit and snacks that we had on hand.
