Today we are out doing some exploring. The drive took us through many country roads and many of them are shady and tree lined, making for a lovely drive.
Our day trip today is to Bergerac, a “Town of Art and History”. We found parking and headed out toward the Notre Dame Cathedral. We passed a pretty fountain on the way.
The big weekly market is taking place today and it is situated in the square and the streets surrounding the cathedral. First thing was saw was a street performer on stilts. And his partner who was blowing huge bubbles.
The market was very much like others we have seen but probably larger than most. Paul bought a new case for his cell phone as his old one was falling apart.
We also ducked into the Notre Dame de Cathedral. It is much like many others we have seen.
On our walk we passed a statue of Cyrano de Bergerac, a 17th century author who was famous for the size of his nose.

We then headed down to the waterfront...
where we took a cruise on the Dordogne.
We saw a lot of birdlife on the river…Canada Geese,
Grey Heron,
And Black Kite.
When we got back we headed back up the hill to find lunch. After lunch it was back down to the river where we caught the Petit Train for a drive around Begerac. These little trains are such a good way to see a lot of the city that we might not otherwise see. This one took us along the river and then well into the city.
It is hot
today so, after the train ride we stopped for some ice cream before heading
back to the car for the drive home.
