Today is Sunday and we headed out to find whatever we could find to see in Uzerche. Looking back up to the area where our house is located. No idea which one it is.
The town is referred to as the Pearl of the Limousin. It is a 16th century town situated beside the Vézère River.
And because it was Sunday there was almost nothing open. A very dead town, even if very pretty.

The walk took us under the viaduct.
The road up the hill paralleled the river and gave us good views of the river and some of the town. The main road.

We eventually made it up into the old section of town. This part of town is very picturesque with conical roofs over round towers.

Sunday services were being held in the Abbaye Saint Pierre so we didn’t go in.

On the back side of the Abbaye was an 11th century crypt that we could go in. There was lighting from some side openings but no interior lighting so we had to step carefully.

and the Black Prince Tower.
We went looking for a chateau that had been mentioned in some of the literature. Turns out is was more like a manor house. Wouldn’t have seen it except for the placard on the building. The Chateau de Tayac.
We eventually ended up down by the river at the only place we could find that was open and serving food. A burger place with great views of the town.
After eating we went back to the room where we worked the rest of the day. We had snacks for dinner.
