The weather is lovely today, the heat wave has finally broken, and it is now in the 70’s instead of the 90’s.
We walked down
to the nearby harbor for a few photos.
The tide was out and we saw an egret on the wet flats.
Then we stopped at the Saint Sauveur of La Rochelle Church for a few photos.
We were able to find the big market. There was a very large, covered hall...
with mostly foods…fish, cheese, veggies, breads, sweets, etc.
The courtyard outside was also full of venders with lots of food...
and a flower shop.
Then we spent some time wandering the streets of town.
We found the city hall in a beautiful old building...
with a wonderful courtyard.
and the nearby Grand Horloge (the big clock in a tower).
We had dinner on the waterfront. It was a lovely evening for eating outside. Since smoking is allowed outside we usually sit inside but try to get relatively close to the front so we can hopefully enjoy the views and avoid any smoke.
After dinner we walked down behind one of the towers and towards the sea. We didn't go to far but we did get different views of the towers...
and we also saw tons of masts in a distant marina.
