May 16 – Morlaix. A quiet day and the Saturday Market

We have nothing planned for today, but we decided to go to the Saturday Market.  It is just a block from our hotel, under the viaduct.

Lot of people there getting their groceries.  …cheese, seafood, roasted chickens, bakery.

Some vendors had pretty long lines.

It all looked good.

There were also a lot of dry goods vendors.  Paul ended up buying another satchel and Mary a small bag for carrying bare essentials on cruise ships.  She also found a wonderful jacket that she bought.  She had decided that she wants to do all of her future clothes shopping in France.  The selection is great.

Just as we were getting ready to head back to the hotel we heard bagpipes.  We never did figure out exactly what was going on but there was a small band of bagpipes and drummers who played a bit, like they were rehearsing on a side street.

Then we saw a large number of fire fighters (based on the logos on their backs) milling around, along with a large number of emergency vehicles.  There was never really a parade but at one point a number of the vehicles all started out in procession to go somewhere.

Paul wasn’t hungry for lunch so Mary went down to the market to buy a couple of bananas, so we have something for an afternoon snack.  We spent the rest of the day working.
