We all had breakfast and then it was time for farewells. We were off the boat and on the road by mid-morning. We and Carol were dropped off at the hotel while they took Ron and Sonya to a car rental place. They are picking up a car and heading off for more sightseeing in France. We got to the hotel in Narbonne about 10:00…much too early to check in. So we dropped off our luggage and the three of us headed out to walk to the old town. They said it was about a 15-minute walk. More like 25 or 30 and it was very hot.
We were quite close to a canal and followed it to the old town.
More photos of our walk around town.
We found the little train and took a ride on it. This enabled us to see more of the town that we would have just walking.
Saw many of these bright metal flowers around town.
and there were some very colorful cows.
The back side of the cathedral.
The market hall.
The ride took us by the city hall plaza that we had seen on our earlier visit to Narbonne.
And there were lots of iron balconies everywhere we went.
We had lunch at
a sidewalk café and then decided to splurge on ice cream. It is definitely ice cream weather.
Then it was the long walk along the canal back to the hotel.
We checked in and spent much of the afternoon repacking for the drive tomorrow. We’ve picked up a few things so the luggage is pretty packed.
