April 17 – Beautiful Villages: Lyons-la-Foȓet and Ry

We checked out this morning, loaded the car and headed out to our next location.  More lovely countryside.

And we passed through some quaint, small towns.

And we made a detour to the little town of Lyons-la-Foȓet, a Les Plus Beaux Village de France.  This designation is awarded to small towns/villages of exceptional beauty.  And this one was a beauty.  We really enjoyed this one.

There was a main square with a covered area for a market, and fountain

and lots of tables and chairs sat out in the square so that diners could enjoying some refreshments or lunch in the sun.

The main street through the town made a big circle so we wandered the circle and found a lot of lovely old buildings.

And there were wonderful spring flowers everywhere.

Then it was on to the next village, the village of Ry.  There were a lot of flowering trees leading into town.

And one building was covered with flowering wisteria.

There were half-timbered buildings, but this town turned out to be not nearly as picturesque as the previous.

We ended our drive in Rouen, our next destination.
