It is warm again today. They are calling it a heat wave but so far it is only in the 70’s. Apparently, this is very warm for this time of year, and it is expected to get even hotter.
Our first stop today is the town of Auray…on the itinerary for its pretty port and medieval streets and buildings. We parked the car and headed out, only to turn a corner and find ourselves in the middle of a market. We love markets. But this one is a mega-market. It keeps going, and going, and going.
After poking around for a while we stopped to visit the St. Gilda's Church.
And later we found the town’s Les Halles, the covered market building. According to a sign in the building the market has been operational since 1459, almost 600 years. Most likely the same location but different building.
We found our way down to the port in the district of town called St. Goustan. A pretty port area…
with an old bridge, the Pont de St. Goustan.
We eventually found our way back up to the top of the hill. We thought about getting some late lunch, but everything was closed, even the market stalls.

So, it was into the car and a drive to our next stay…the town of Vannes.
After unloading the car and checking in we headed down the hill through the old part of town.
It is quite hot so we had some ice cream.
Our wanderings took us to the harbor.
And there we found the Petit Train and took it around town. We are finding them an easy way to get a quick sense of a town and the things we might want to go back to on our own.
We passed the chateau during the train ride. Looked like there was a lot of work being done on it.
There were so many half-timbered houses on the train route around town.
A very good day.
